It does not matter how you write it, the reality is – I am fifty years old. Just the other day I told my twenty six year old daughter that when I was thirty five, I really started to liked myself, I was in control of myself, but now that I am fifty – I really love myself.
Let me say it again, I really love myself. This is not meant to be vain, it is all to do with self acceptance. Fifty has brought so many freedoms and assertiveness, but by golly it has brought the dreaded tiredness. At times I am so tired, I don’t know where the next breath that must keep me alive is going to come from.
And I still have my periods. A bit more than a year ago I prayed that my periods must return, I was a few days late and I thought, “O No, the menopause has forked me.”
Now I am praying – please go away and take with you the tiredness, the depression and the iratibility!
I have always tried to help my body with the food I eat and doing exercise regularly. And so now I turn once again to my aroma oils, my food and my exercise.
The first remedy I am cuddling is Kelp Powder. You cannot use kelp if you are allergic to sea food or have iodine allergic reactions. For the rest of us, kelp is a wonderful addition to a self help regime.
I would also advise anybody to seek medical treatment, let your doctor do a test to see if your hormones are out of wack – I know mine is, I will concentrate on body and soul to heal and to help me during this time.
It has been two days that I am taking kelp powder, my period has just ended and I feel energetic, I feel I can work the whole night through, but, but I will not. I will enjoy a glass of wine with my husband tonight, I will enjoy a candlelit bath with a lot of my own special blend of body detox salts to rid my body of chemical and metabolic waste and I will enjoy a good nights sleep.
This week I am also completely turning my diet around. I normally eat fruit until midday then a salad some protein and a cooked meal with my husband at night. Now I am going to eat the protein the starch and the good oil for breakfast. I will let you all know how it goes and see if I can get rid of the dreaded 5kg that had crept under my skin to roost there. It is unwanted and I hate to carry that around, it must go!
The kelp is also good because it stimulates the thyroid, which then secretes more hormones, which, in turn activates the entire metabolism. The gonads become more active and the body fat decreases.
However, kelp contains calcium as well, it is a good osteoporosis deterrent.
FOOD THAT CAN HELP WOMEN OVER FIFTY
If you do like cow's milk - try rice or soya milk instead, again look for organic, and no added sugar varieties.
Increase your intake of omega 3 and 6 oils - I take 1ts of kelp; 1 ts of wheatgerm and 1ts of linseed in 1/2glass of fresh orange juice twice a day.
Eat oily fish - sardines and tuna - A healthy lunch is tuna salad with tomatoes, lettuce, peppers and sprouts, I sprinkle a handful of nuts (walnuts, almonds, pecans, pumpkin, sesame - whih is very high in calcium, hemp and sunflower) over the salad - delicious!
AVOID PROCESSED AND REFINED FOODS!!!!!!PLEASE Make this week, the week for change, let me hold your hand and together we can make it. I promise you will feel so much better at the end of the week.
Yes you may thank me for the increase in energy, for the loss of unwanted weight around the midriff and for the glowing skin. But remember - it is not me - You have made the choice to change.
