BEING FIFTY MEANS: IN CONTROL, OUT OF CONTROL

At fifty, we are so much more in control of our thoughts and our feelings. We do what we want to do and we are not dictated by the needs of our children or husbands for that matter. We are who we want to be. However, while this is happening the rest of our bodies are going into decline, especially the bladder and the PC muscles. The pelvic floor muscles are like our bi-cepts, and tri-cepts muscles, keep them in good strong working order, or else……need I say more!

Bladder and vagina problems are part of being fifty. Have you perhaps noticed that when you skip, laugh, or cough urine escaped - The sphincter muscle is weaker due to low estrogen levels? The sphincter muscle is there to guard the exit of urine from the bladder. However, you could also have noticed that the vagina is less elastic, or dry and itchy.

The good news is, eat healthy, load up on fresh veggies, fruits, keep the weight down and do the following exercises and you will find an improvement to the PC floor muscles.

The best way to find out is to sit on the toiles with your legs wide apart. Now let go of urine. Can you stop the urine flow without using your legs or your tummy muscles? Can you, can you?

If you cannot then you must exercise or sex-ercise the PC muscles every day.

Today we will concentrate on this one sex-ercise to keep the vagina healthy.

You know where the PC muscles is, you know what it felt like when you tried to stop the urine.

Now while you run your bath water sit once again on the toilet, your bladder should be empty, close your eyes take a deep breath and clench the PC muscle, hold it, let the breath out, -no do not answer the door, or the telephone - and relax. Again, clench the PC muscle, hold, take a deep breath and relax. Do this five times. Tomorrow morning when you wake up, go to the toilet start the process of urinating and stop the uring midway, let the flow go and stop.

This sex-ercise must be done five times in the morning and five times at night. These sex -ercises will strengthen the pelvic muscles, it will improve incontinence and it will make a huge difference to your sex life

How does food help to strengthen the PC muscles?

Your body never stop making estrogen – never, it is just less estrogen being released through the endocrine system.

If you eat food rich in natural estrogen, you assist and improve the release of estrogen.

Soya beans, soya curds as in tofu is a great addition to self-help and self-improvement. Eat a lot of brown rice – 150 -200g per day, add stir-fried, carrots, celery, leek and green and red pepper to your rice. It is delicious and so healthy. Eat food high in calories early in the day. Try to drink fresh carrot and pineapple juice at night, make that your only meal for the night.
