This morning I walked the dreaded Maxwell, 3km downhill and 3 km uphill, but is a never ending uphill even although it is only 3km. I have had many excuses as why I could not tackle this uphill until I ran out of excuses, and the only option left was: Just do it, the ancient Greek writer Euripides in Licymnius said: “Toil, says the proverb, is the sire of fame.” Therefore, I toiled down and up that hill.
While toiling down the hill (it is too difficult to even think when you go up) I thought of all the fabulous women that I was honoured to have met throughout my life. Most of them are now over fifty and some are even in their eighties and still fabulous.
This blog today is a tribute to all the women and their best qualities. Let me start with Rita - her smile lights up a room, her presence is like the sun shining after weeks of continuous rain. She is tall and nymph like; I always thought Rita walked out of Botticelli’s “La Primavera” to bestow upon us her grace.
Marleen is soft and gentle, no matter how hard life treats her, she just smile and takes it on. Marleen is a pillar of strength, her beauty shines through her eyes.
Lynn is another nymph – I am blessed with the hips so all nymphs are my ideal form of the body of women. Lynn is also very gentle and sincere, she is beautiful five o’clock in the morning while she feeds the birds – she is beautiful without having to do much (sigh).
Then there is Charlene, devilishly sexy but her beauty is in her strength. She got up after a tsunami wave hit her from the back, from the side and poured flotsam all over her. She got up and created for herself an empire, she is an inspiration of beauty and strength.
Debbie and her mother are truly beautiful. Sutu is over eighty, stunning, always the epitome of grace and beauty. Her beauty is like Sara from the bible – ageless, timeless and breathless.
I took a breather and then thought of Thea, she has the most beautiful legs and she is the hostess. The always charms you with her baking, but wait I do not think Thea is fifty yet – Thea when you reach that age, I will add you. I do not want sexy, not fifty, women in my blog yet!
Another woman that I always use to admire is Alet- no matter what, -rain, snow, exhaustion, her hair and nails were impeccable. She uses her hands as a Geisha would and she dressed with so much care, I was envious (in an aspiring manner) of the way she carried herself.
Another fabulously female that I admired throughout my time here on earth is Annatjie. She was a gymnast while in school, so apart from a natural beauty, Annatjie carries herself with the grace that only comes with dedication. Ballet dancers have the same quality. Then there is Judie, all colour and vibrancy.
To be fabulous and fifty, takes effort, it takes toil and that brings health and confidence. Because ladies it is toil and confidence, that makes us sexy and fabulous.
Today I will aspire to take on some of the qualities that I admire in my friends. Is it not about time that we sit down and tell our friends what we admire in them? Take up the challenge and do so.
So my hill walk is done, I opened my e- mail and what did I get? -These photo’s.
I think I must go walk Maxwell right now again, just in tribute to this fabulous lady. I want legs like that, not to mention the pink frilly panty.
Love you all!
